Sacyr Environment will manage the waste from the VIP tents of the Champions League final

• Surge Ambiental consolidates its business as a waste manager in private events

UEFA has awarded Surge Ambiental, a subsidiary of Sacyr Environment dedicated to the management of privately generated waste, the contract to manage the waste from the VIP tents in the vicinity of the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid during the UEFA Champions League 2019 final on June 1.

This contract consolidates Surge Ambiental’s business as a waste manager in private events. The contract includes the management of the Champions Village and Football Village areas, which will occupy an area of 35,000 m2 and host some 10,000 UEFA guests and VIPs.

On the day of the match, Surge will manage approximately 20,000 kg of waste in different 800-liter containers, open boxes, igloos and self-compactors, where it will be sorted to ensure correct recycling.

During the service, Surge Ambiental will provide the material and human resources necessary for the proper management of the waste, which will be sorted by type (organic matter, paper/cardboard, light packaging, glass, wood, carpet and the rest) in order to guarantee their correct management and to give priority to the separation of materials and recycling

The service consists of three distinct phases: assembly, which began on April 15 and will last until May 31; match day, 1 June; and dismantling, which will last a few more weeks.

Environmentally responsible waste management

Surge Ambiental has more than 10 years of experience in the integral management and transport of construction and demolition waste (CDW) and industrial waste. Its business model is based on sustainability and environmentally responsible management with policies that allow a complete recovery of waste.

Surge has a Quality Management and Environmental Management and Energy Management System in accordance with the standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, UNE 158301, UNE 158101 and EMAS, the main standards in their respective areas at international and European level.
