The energy-efficiency project of Hospital de Braga (Portugal), which is managed by Sacyr Concesiones, has won the EDP Electric Energy and Environment Award in recognition of measures that allow a 40% reduction in energy consumption as compared with 2013.
More than one million euros have been invested in the project, which was implemented between June 2014 and March 2017. It involves the application of new technologies to reduce energy consumption, improve the hospital's energy efficiency and maintain quality and comfort levels.
The measures adopted include the modification of hydraulic circuits for the installation of new equipment with increased energy efficiency; the installation of CO2, temperature and humidity sensors that allow improved energy recovery while maintaining air quality and comfort in the different spaces within the building; and the installation of energy recovery batteries that allow existing energy in the air extraction system to be re-used.
The tenth edition of the EDP Electric Energy and Environment Award attracted 267 entries involving initiatives in the field of energy efficiency and environmental quality. http://premioedpd.pt/
