We create museums full of art

We are specialists in complex museum projects that require multidisciplinary work. We have demonstrated it in such emblematic centers as the Reina Sofía Contemporary Museum (Madrid) or the visitor center of the archaeological site of Atapuerca (Burgos).

Hall of Reigns of the Museo del Prado project in Madrid

The rehabilitation of the Hall of Reigns of the Museo del Prado is our latest museum project. We are improving this space so that it can host more temporary exhibitions and display a greater number of works from the collections of one of the largest art galleries in the world.

This project, based on sustainable criteria, will make it possible to recover the 17th-century facade and show a spectacular public space: the new atrium of the Prado Campus. The ground floor will be freed up to make it the 'heart' of the new building and have exhibition and recreational spaces where, through the atrium, the urban plan will penetrate the building reconnecting its north and south sides.

Palacio de la Aduana, Málaga

In 2016 Sacyr completed the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Palacio de la Aduana (Malaga), with an 18,400 m2 surface area. The construction company reconverted its use of a Government Subdelegation to house the Fine Arts and Archaeology collections of the Malaga Museum. The works undertaken respect and enhance the historical condition of the 18th-century building, while facilitating the implantation of the institution in the monument.

Cosmocaixa, Barcelona

This 1904 building reopened in 2004, after the laborious rehabilitation process undertaken by Sacyr this modernist building, the work of the architect Josep Domènech i Estapà. Glass and steel are specially important in this project.

This space offers a unique experience to the user, such as a replica of a flooded forest of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest of more than 1,000 m2. Most of its facades were made using a horizontal truss cable-stayed system, creating a very light appearance while allowing a clear view of its interior.

Palacio de Velázquez, Madrid

The rehabilitation of the Velázquez Palace, located next to the Paseo de Venezuela in the Retiro Park in Madrid, ended in 2009. The building dates back to 1883 and was built as the central pavilion of the National Exhibition of Mining, Metallurgical Arts, Ceramics, Glassware and Mineral Waters.

The architecture follows the model of the Crystal Palace in London and the rehabilitation included the construction of a new roof and the full restoration of the interior of the Palace to adapt it to current regulations as a building for public cultural use and to hold temporary exhibitions.

Visitor Reception Center of the site of Atapuerca, Burgos

In 2010, we completed the construction of the Visitor Reception Center, now turned Experimental Archaeology Center (CAREX), next to the archaeological site of Atapuerca (Burgos), a declared World Heritage site.

This unique building was conceived as a large exposed concrete box perforated with large skylights. It has a Neolithic funerary monument consisting of a circular chamber that can be accessed through a corridor.

Visitor Reception Center of the city of Cordoba

The Visitor Reception Center of Cordoba is formed by a set of two buildings of different heights and straight-lined volumes that integrate Roman and Visigothic structures. Completed in 2013, the center is integrated into the environment in a harmonious way, without detracting attention from the monuments that surround it.

Antiquarium Museum, Seville

The first phase of construction of the Las Setas complex in Seville uncovered visible remains of much of the Roman period, from Tiberius (ca. 30 AD) until the 6th century, and an Almohad Islamic house from the 12th and 13th centuries. The archaeological remains are located in the underground part, in the Antiquarium Museum: a diaphanous 4,879 m2 space, surrounded by a 1,100 m2 glass membrane that surrounds the entire space and allows to convey the feeling of being in the spaces in which our ancestors survived as if the visitor were diving in the sea.
