Sacyr Concesiones has started operating the Bosques del Itata P3 project (Northern Access to Concepción). This 96-kilometer highway connects the Ñuble and Biobío regions, located in central Chile.
The P3 contract will last for a minimum period of 18 years. Sacyr Concesiones will invest approximately €516 million in the improvement, construction, maintenance, and operation of this roadway. The works will cover the entire 96 km extension of the P3 project , which includes 75 km of Route 152, 14 km of Ruta 158, and a new nearly 7-kilometer connection linking to Ruta 146, also operated by Sacyr through the Valles del Biobío company.
The Bosques del Itata project will rehabilitate existing roadways, adjust alignments, and develop new bridges and service road sections, enhancing safety and comfort standards for users.
Road improvements
Among the key works, the new P3 project includes 10 new interchanges, 2 bridges, 2 viaducts, 24 new bus stops, 12 new pedestrian overpasses, service roads, circuits, and a new pedestrian bridge. Additionally, over 7 km of bike lanes, new signage and markings, and the implementation of an electronic toll system (free flow) will be incorporated.
Strong presence in Chile
Sacyr operates five airports and 11 highways under a P3 scheme in Chile, along with seven hospitals at various stages of development and five integrated water cycle plants . Additionally, it is involved in flagship projects such as the construction of the New Railway Bridge for EFE, which will replace the current structure that has been in use for over 130 years.
