Autovía del Eresma road P3 project has certified its Carbon Footprint to AENOR’s ISO 14064 standard. This certification verifies that the measurement of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions carried out in this project is accurate, consistent, and transparent to ISO 14064-1:2018 Standard.
In addition, the certificate facilitates the management of the associated risks with GHG emissions, identifies management strategies and reduction opportunities.
Autovía del Eresma, a road P3 managed by Sacyr Concesiones, spans 49 km and is part of the corridor connecting province capitals Valladolid and Segovia.
Scope 1 and 2 emissions in this road infrastructure was cut down by 34% compared to the previous year. Among other factors, this reduction is mostly due to the installation of 30 solar panels at the project’s management site. Solar power represents about 20% of the facility’s electricity consumption.
The project used Bioroad on different road sections. Bioroad is a sustainable aggregate for asphalt mixes made of recycled vegetable oil. Its use allowed to promote circular economy and enhance the road’s resistance and durability.
Autovía del Eresma P3 project was awarded by the Comunidad Autónoma de Castilla y León and is a benchmark in sustainability for its environmental protection solutions.
