Sacyr has completed the construction of two road projects in Florida (USA) with a combined original budget of US$131 million (€120,6 million): the remodeling of the interchange I-75 SR 72 and the expansion of SR 417 Landstar Boulevard to Boggy Creek.
With these two works, Sacyr has already delivered nine projects in North America since 2018, when it was awarded its first contract.
Widening of SR 417 Landstar Boulevard to Boggy Creek
Sacyr has achieved substantial completion status for the widening project of a section of SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay) for the Central Florida Expressway Authority.
The project had an initial budget of US$78 million (€71,8 million) and involved the upgrade of a 5.9 km section in Orlando aimed at reducing congestion and improving traffic flow between Landstar Blvd. and Boggy Creek Rd.
In addition, the existing section was modernized, and the highway was expanded from four to six lanes. Finally, 11 noise walls were installed to reduce the impact of noise pollution.
I-75 SR 72 Interchange
In Sarasota County, Sacyr has completed the remodeling of the I-75 at Clark Rd. (SR 72) interchange for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to improve safety and mobility. This is the fourth project delivered by Sacyr for FDOT.
The project had an initial budget of US$53 million. Key actions included transforming the interchange into a diverging diamond interchange with eight lanes, along with the widening of a 1.5 km section of SR 72, adding one additional lane in each direction. Furthermore, access and exit ramps were adapted, noise walls were installed, and new sidewalks and bike lanes were built.
Over 48,000 tons of asphalt were laid during night shifts to minimize traffic disruption.
