We are currently building what will be the first RARx plant in Latin America and outside Spain. The project is to be carried out in Guanajuato, Mexico, in collaboration with our local partner, Neotech Asphalt, a leading company in environmental solutions within the asphalt sector in Mexico.
The facility will have an initial manufacturing capacity of 8,000 tons per year, expandable to 20,000.This plant has the capacity to recycle more than 1.5 million landfill bound end-of-life tires. This will entail a RARx supply capacity for asphalt mixtures of more than 1 million tons of asphalt mixture modified with tire powder.
Mexico has a tire waste problem, so the project will be an advance in the country's circular economy system.
The plant has the best technology and sufficient capacity to meet any project both in Mexico and in other Latin American countries.
"The circular economy will have real applications on the roads", explains Miguel Ángel Sanz, Business development and contracting director of Valoriza (Sacyr Green). This operation could be jump started next month, the expert emphasizes.
The use of RARx (tire powder from out-of-use tires predigested with bitumen) is already entrenched in Mexico, as Sacyr already used it on the Pirámides-Tulancingo-Pachuca highway. In fact, as of today, it is the best highway in the country in terms of compliance indicators. After this project, and thanks to our partnership with Neotech Asphalt, other works have been executed such as the Tijuana airport runway, laying asphalt at Guadalajara airport, and the Moreila peripheral.
CIRTEC, the parent company to the RARx project, sells in Spain and is currently expanding to other countries. It is worth highlighting the distribution agreement signed with the BITAFAL company in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.
This expansion includes the construction of more plants to produce this new material in Chile, Uruguay, the USA, India and central Europe.
