The consortium Sociedad Concesionaria Aeropuerto del Sur, led by Sacyr Concesiones, has completed the expansion and improvement works of the El Tepual airport in Puerto Montt, with €34 million in investments. The consortium will also oversee the operation and maintenance of the airport for 6 years.
The works included the remodeling and expansion of the airport's passenger terminal area. These improvements, that allowed to increase the surface from 9,000 m2 to 16,000 m2, included a new jet bridge and two of the existing ones have been replaced. Moreover, other improvements included the expansion of the tarmac, a new control tower was built, along with some new buildings for the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC). The passengers’ terminal building now includes assistance services for reduced mobility users, a tactile paving accessway, free Wi-Fi service, and the seating areas in the boarding rooms were upgraded and now add up to over 1,200.
This expansion will allow to provide better service, comfort, and security conditions of a regional airport with an international character to airlines, passengers, and other users.
The consortium Sociedad Concesionaria Aeropuerto del Sur is 31.9% Sacyr Concesiones, via Concesiones Viales Andinas (62.5%) and the Chilean company Agencias Universales (37.5%).
