2022 Results: we raised the EBITDA by 63% and reached a record 26% profitability rate

Sacyr registered steep growth last year thanks to its sustainable concession-driven strategy. Last year, the company brought six new assets into operation and the backlog climbed to close to €55 billion.

Our CFO, Carlos Mijangos, gives a detailed explanation in this video

A sound strategy, focused on the sustainable development of concessional assets and the talent of 41,000+ professionals all over the world are what made us break records in 2022

Last year we achieved a €1,502 million Ebitda, 63% higher than in 2021, and three times higher than our 2018 values. Profitability increased by 6% to 26%, setting a new record.

Business net income was €111 million, compared to the negative results in 2021.

Goals fulfilled

We have fulfilled the main goals in the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan in terms of revenues (€5,852 M vs. €5,500 M), EBITDA (€1,502 M vs. €1,200 M), profitability (26% vs 22%) and percentage of EBITDA contributed by concessions (88% vs. 85%).

Sacyr announced a divestment plan in October 2022 to fulfill the target of drastically reducing the recourse net debt.

Six new assets in operation

This steep 2022 growth is explained by our successful concession-driven strategy in the past few years. In 2022 we brought six new assets into operation (three in Chile, two in Colombia and one in Italy), proving once again our capacity to successfully complete and operate the projects we have been awarded.

Increase in backlog

Moreover, we continue to work towards our goals with an €8,800 million increase in our backlog to close to €55,000 million. Three new concessions won in 2022 are certain to ensure growth in the upcoming years.

Despite the highly complex international scenario, our three business divisions had excellent performance: Sacyr Concesiones increased the EBITDA by 74%; Engineering and Infrastructures did by 52% and Services by 9%.

Shareholder remuneration

Shareholder remuneration is one of the foundations of the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan. In 2022, Sacyr paid two €0.115/share scrip dividends, that represent a return of 4.8%, fulfilling the company’s goals and market commitments.
