The Sacyr Foundation works for a better world, through its contribution to the social and environmental wellbeing of the locations where Sacyr undertakes its activities.
The organization develops a wide range of activities that drive innovation and social impact. Some of the most noteworthy 2022 activities include the first Sacyr Foundation week, that gathered multiple organizations and events, like a pop-up market with foundations like Emalaikat, Saving The Amazon, Inclusive, Juan XXIII Roncalli, Toda Ayuda, Prodis and Down Madrid; a raffle with all profits going to project “Juntos desde casa”: an initiative by Fundación Aladina to para paliar la sensación de soledad de los niños con cáncer y sus familias.
In 2022, the Sacyr Foundation renewed multiple relevant agreements,and signed new ones, with, but not limited to, Ayuda en Acción Peru and Colombia; Manos de Ayuda Social; Fundación Afanias; Asociación Española contra la Leucodistrofia; Fundación Inclusive; Fundación Bocalán; Fundación Aladina; Asociación Aspanovas; Fundación Toda Ayuda; Fundacion Gil Gayarre, Fundación ASPACE or Fundación Down Madrid.
Moreover, the Sacyr Foundation continues to make a sizeable dissemination work through the WeRSoCial events: digital events with representatives from the different organizations we collaborate with to let the Sacyr community learn firsthand about our activities and the impact they make.
The project “1 map, 1 year” was created too in 2022, with the goal of supporting smaller initiatives that aim to bring big changes in provinces all across Spain.
Pedro Alonso, Executive director of the Sacyr Foundation, highlights the Sacyr Foundations work for the past 15 years. “We continue to face every new project and bring solutions to the array of societal challenges there where Sacyr has activities2, that we face with as much enthusiasm as the first day”.
Corporate volunteer work
Last year, the Sacyr Foundation and its volunteers took on volunteer work activities with fully charged batteries at organizations such as:
Adopta un abuelo promotes the accompaniment of elderly people at risk of suffering unwanted loneliness; nature cleanups with Proyecto Libera, by Ecoembes; food collection and fundraising for the food bank, multiple activities with Fundación Down Madrid; and seabed cleanups in Melilla.
With the Fundación Techo in Chile, to improve the living conditions through livelihood projects, access to basic services and communal infrastructure.
Fundación FUMDIR and the Hogar Gerontológico Gratitud en Colombia with organized visits to seniors at care homes and activities aimed at social inclusion. I
n addition, with the Fundación Exit Sacyr has given orientation sessions to support the training of young men and women at risk of dropping out of school, and with the Escuela de Fortalecimiento, “Estamos Contigo” with Fundación Integra in Barcelona and Madrid to help people at risk of exclusion.
