We won two IJGlobal Awards!

Sacyr Concesiones has won two IJGlobal Americas Awards: one for Rumichaca-Pasto 4G Refinance, Colombia in the Refinance Transport - Latin America category, and another for the Ferrocarril Central Railway, Uruguay, in the Refinance Rail - Latin America category.

Rodrigo Jiménez-Alfaro, CFO of Sacyr Concesiones, was presented with both awards at an event held in New York. "The entire tea mis proud to have received these internationally recognized industry awards”, Jiménez-Alfaro said.

Five-times awarded

With this new award, the Rumichaca-Pasto refinance already has five awards in total:

  • Two Latin Finance awards (Financing Innovation of the Year and Infrastructure Financing of the Year for the Andes)
  • COP Bond Deal of the Year, by Bonds & Loans.
  • And the Proximo Latin America Deals of the Year Awards 2022, in the road infrastructure category.

The Rumichaca - Pasto refinance involved a US$278 million multitranche bank loan, a loan in Colombian pesos equivalent to $US260 million, and a social bond for $US 262 million. This is the second social bond issued by Sacyr in Colombia, and the largest in Latin America linked to an infrastructure project.

The social bond issue had a successful demand of more than twice as the value of the original bond. This is the second social bond issuance that Sacyr Concesiones does linked to an infrastructure project in Colombia and it became the largest ever in Latin America.

Ferrocarril Central Railway refinance (Uruguay)

In 2022, Grupo Vía Central, responsible for the construction of the Ferrocarril Central, closed a US$ 250 million credit line deal through a fixed-rate B bond with IDB Invest.

Revenues will be used to refinance the project’s existing debt, thus improving the project’s general financing terms and conditions.

This new operation is complementary to a US$536 million (€500 million) financing package.

The Grupo Vía Central consortium, led by Sacyr, and Saceem, Berkes and NGE, oversees the financing, design, consturction and maintenance of 273 km for railways connecting Montevideo and Paso de Los Toros.

The Ferrocarril Central development created around 1,400 direct jobs and benefits over 2,800 people tied to local commerce and services. Moreover, the new infrastructure will have a positive impact on the local agricultural, forest and industry activities.
