Pompeii, a jewel of ancient recycling buried by a volcano
Pompeii was buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and for centuries slept under a blanket of ash and pumice some six metres deep. We discuss how this priceless archaeological treasure was built from stones from nearby quarries, rubbish and reused materials.
