Sacyr and Built have entered into a strategic alliance to form a delivery partnership for the joint development of projects in Australia. This partnership brings together Built’s expertise in Australia with Sacyr’s technical excellence and global experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
The Built-Sacyr joint venture was recently named preferred alliance partner for the redevelopment of Peel Health Campus in Mandurah, near Perth, Western Australia. The new, six-story, state-of-the-art hospital will be constructed adjacent to the existing facility, significantly expanding medical services for the region.
The Sacyr-Built team is collaborating with the Western Australian Government on the design and development phases, with construction expected to commence in mid-2026.
Rafael Gómez del Río, CEO of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure, said about the agreement, “Built and Sacyr share a vision for delivering smarter, more resilient generational infrastructure. By combining global capability with local strength, our delivery partnership seeks to ensure certainty, efficiency, and long term value for clients and communities.
With a wealth of industry experience, Built and Sacyr are joining forces to support the growing development of infrastructure in Australia, creating a positive impact and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
Combining complementary strengths
Built’s CEO, Construction, David Paterson, said: “Sacyr brings deep global experience in delivering large scale social infrastructure and access to international supply chains. Combined with Built’s national capability and digital-first construction, we offer a delivery approach that provides certainty, scale, and community benefit.”
“Australia’s infrastructure pipeline demands delivery teams that can handle complexity with confidence, combining scale and innovation to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards", Paterson added.
Strategic milestone
A priority goal in Sacyr’s 2024-2027 Strategic Plan is to increase its project portfolio in English-speaking countries.
Sacyr first entered the Australian market in 2008 through its water Branch, Sacyr Water, with the construction, operation and maintenance project of Binningup’s Southern Seawater Desalination Plant. Since then, the company has also developed several water and waste treatment facilities. This alliance represents further progress towards the company’s expansion goals and strengthens its foundation for growth in the region.
