We issue a new challenge to the innovation ecosystem through MIDE

We are searching for solutions that help us certify the recycled origin of materials to incorporate these products into the value chain.

At Sacyr, we believe that the joint effort with the innovation community is a fundamental value in the new digital era. Recently, we have signed a collaboration agreement with MIDE (Madrid Innovation Driven Ecosystem), a platform focused on stimulating Madrid’s innovation ecosystem. This platform allows us to become acquainted and connect with other agents, identify new opportunities and discover innovative solutions that help us answer our business challenges.

In the framework of our collaboration with MIDE, today we issue a new challenge to the innovation ecosystem. This challenge focuses on the digitalization of the circular economy flow. This way, we look for solutions that help us certify the recycled origin of materials to incorporate these products into the value chain.

The startups interested in participating in this initiative can submit their solution proposals to this challenge before May 5th.

Furthermore, the most appraised solutions will be showcased in the Digital Enterprise Show (DES), one of the most prominent digital transformation events in Europe. Moreover, those innovation agents that best address this challenge will get the chance to present their proposals on one-on-one meetings with Sacyr experts.

Focus on sustainability

Currently, there is a growing demand for packaging containers or products made from recycled materials. Therefore, we need to identify solutions that help us verify that the raw materials we produce from waste at the ‘Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales’ (VSM) plants are undoubtedly recycled.

The goal is to promote the circular economy and offer security and quality control for these types of materials. Through a qualitative and quantitative monitorization of the treatment process in our facilities to turn waste into new recycled materials, we prevent waste from ending up in landfills.

At the VSM plants, we handle a wide array of waste: organic, textile, plastic, electronic devices. “We would like to have a reporting system that homogenizes data and reports those analyses on a broad scale”, states Rafael Sánchez Aparicio, Director of VSM’s Waste treatment department and sponsor of the challenge.
