Sacyr leads the road upkeep sector in peru after being awarded its fourth contract

The company has secured the contract to maintain the Ayacucho-Huancayo highway, in central Peru.

With this new contract, Sacyr now has more than 2,200 km of highways in its portfolio.

Sacyr will be responsible for the management and routine upkeep of 436 kilometers of highway along the road corridor that links the Peruvian departments of Ayacucho, Huancavelica and Junín, located in the central region of the country.

The Rutas de Ayacucho Road Consortium, composed of two Sacyr subsidiaries - Saopse and Sacyr Conservación - will carry out this work, entailing a budget of more than 47 million soles (EUR 12.6 million). The contract, which was awarded by Provías Nacional through a call for tenders, will begin in March and be executed over a period of three years.

2,200 kilometers

With this new project, Sacyr is now responsible for the upkeep of 2,200 km of roadways in Peru, more than 1,400 km of which are service agreements with Provías Nacional. Another 800 km fall under the management of Operation and Maintenance in the concession of Section II of Carretera Longitudinal de la Sierra. These figures position Sacyr as the leader in the Peruvian road upkeep market. “Sacyr is now a very important player in the road upkeep sector in this country. Our focus is to continue collaborating with the Peruvian government to contribute to the efficient development of the Peruvian road upkeep market. We also want to bolster our position as the top road upkeep company in Peru by offering quality infrastructure to all our users, making the connections between cities safer and improving travel times,” stressed Alan Granados, representative of Saopse in Peru.
