Sacyr has received the “Reduzco” [I reduce] seal from the Spanish Office of Climate Change (OECC) from the Ministry for Ecological Transition for reducing their greenhouse gas emissions (GGE) by 7.34% in their activities in Spain.
Sacyr has achieved reducing its CO2 emissions in its activities in Spain by 7.34% between 2016-2018 with respect to the three-year period from 2015-2017 for scopes 1, 2 and 3. Counting and recording four consecutive carbon footprints (2015-2018) in the Carbon Footprint, Carbon Offset and CO2 Absorption Project Registry is a mandatory step in earning this seal.
The “Reduzco” [I reduce] seal is granted to organizations that count and record their carbon footprint for a minimum of four years and are able to reduce emissions.
Within its responsibility in the fight against climate change, the group believes the management of CO2 is a priority action within its organization, which offers important opportunities for the growth, development and competitiveness of its companies, and which contributes to improve the environment, society and the future.
Obtaining the “Reduzco” [I reduce] seal recognizes the effort made so far, and represents a boost in continuing to work to fulfill Sustainable Development Goal (SDG): SDG 13 Adopt urgent measures to fight climate change and its effects.
In 2016, Sacyr recorded its footprint in the National Registry to establish objectives and initiatives with the aim of improving energy efficiency, optimizing the consumption of resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The “Calculo – Reduzco” [I Count – I Reduce] seal includes all of Sacyr's activities in Spain, and can be consulted at the Ministry for Ecological Transition’s website: https://www.miteco.gob.es/es/cambio-climatico/temas/mitigacion-politicas-y-medidas/buscador_empresas.aspx
