Italy has consolidated itself as one of the most relevant markets for the group’s concession business after winning its third P3 project: the A3 between Naples-Pompei-Salerno.
In Italy, we operate through our subsidiary SIS, and we have a backlog of 11.8 billion euros, with infrastructures that provide services to 30,000 users.
A3 Naples-Salerno
The A3 Naples-Pompei-Salerno is a 52-kilometer long highway, already operational, that SIS will manage for a 25-year term. The contract includes a 390-million-euro investment in modernizing and improving the safety of several segments of the highway. Furthermore, SIS will oversee the roadway’s operation and maintenance.
The estimated backlog throughout the concession term will reach 2.6 billion euros, and the generated Ebitda will come close to 1.4 billion. The project mitigates demand risk thanks to a mechanism that offsets variations in traffic revenue through rates.
The highway has an average daily traffic of nearly 90,000 vehicles and a total 1.69 million annual VKT (vehicles-kilometers traveled).
The Pedemontana-Veneta highway is one of our most prominent interventions. It is the group’s most significant road P3 project and one of the most important contracts achieved, with a 2.6-billion-euro investment to construct 162 km.
In May 2021, we opened the fourth segment of this highway to traffic by opening the 35 kilometers running from the Bassano Ovest Toll to Montebelluna Toll.
With the opening of this new segment, we have already put 60 kilometers of the main axis into service, along with 68 kilometers of secondary roads.
The Pedemontana-Veneta highway is one of the most relevant construction infrastructures in Italy and one of the most important in Sacyr’s work backlog.
320 km of highways in Turin
Recently, we have won the right-of-use of the Italian highways A21 Turin-Alessandria-Piacenza and A5 Turin-Ivrea-Quincinetto, as well as the connecting highway A4/A5 Ivrea-Santhià, and Turin’s Beltway Highways System (Satt), and the Turin-Pinerolo segment. These highways, already operational, add up to a total of 320 kilometers.
This contract, awarded by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, includes the design and execution of the construction works to improve these highways, with an expected investment of 800 million euros. The concession society expects a revenue exceeding 2.9 billion euros throughout the 12-year concession term.
