We sponsor Spanish handball

We put a special focus on Spanish handball. Since 2015, we sponsor the men’s and women’s national teams.

The relationship between Sacyr and the practice of handball began in January 2015, with our sponsoring of the men's national team as they went off to compete in the Qatar World Men's Handball Championship. There, the Hispanos became world champions.

We promote the national handball teams

After becoming world champions, a year later we encouraged the men’s and women’s national teams to participate in the Rio Olympic Games. Since then, with our support, the Hispanos and the Guerreras have been successful and brought back medals and titles. ​

In 2018 and 2020, the Hispanos were crowned champions at the Croatia (2018), Austria, Norway, and Sweden (2020) European Men's Handball Championship. Additionally, they were the runner-up team in the last championship in 2021. 

On their end, the Guerreras won second place for the first time in the 2019 World Women's Handball Championship in Japan. They also were semifinalists in the 2021 competition.
