We have begun maintenance works on Ruta 66 – Camino de la Fruta (Chile), to rehabilitate the access to two of the most important harbors in Chile: Valparaíso and San Antonio, located in Valparaíso region. Segments B3 and B4 will be the first to be reconditioned.
This contract was awarded in August 2019 to Concession Society Ruta de la Fruta, which will be in charge of the operation and maintenance of this roadway. At 141-km-long, this project will be beneficial to the inhabitants of three prominent regions of Chile (O’Higgins, Valparaíso, and Metropolitana) and promote better traffic flow for trucks going to San Antonio harbor.
Some of the most relevant actions in this project, there are the rehabilitation and reconditioning of bridges, construction of lanes dedicated for slow-moving vehicles, and developing a general service and emergency assistance area, bikeways, and pedestrian circuits.
During the execution of the works on sections B3 and B4, we will implement a series of environmental impact mitigating measures, such as wetting the road surface and installing anti-debris mesh, portable acoustic fencing, and proper lighting on the working areas.
This project makes the 12th concession asset Sacyr Concesiones has in Chile. The company operates and maintains five highways (701 km in total), Antofagasta Hospital (671 beds), and Buin-Paine Hospital, currently in progress, which will add 200 new beds to the Chilean healthcare system, and El Tepual (Puerto Montt) and Chacalluta (Arica) airports.
Furthermore, Sacyr Concesiones is currently developing the Ruta 5 P3, the highway segment between Los Vilos – La Serena, and Américo Vespucio Oriente (AVO I) in Santiago de Chile.
