Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure and Cavosa, in a JV with Construcciones Mariezcurrena, continue to advance in the development of the Elorrio-Elorrio section belonging to the high-speed railway line Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastián.
This is a demanding construction section, involving the developmnt of a double track 2.8 km section.
The project includes four viaducts, three of which (Zumelegui, Goikoa, and Zabaleta Sur) are complete. The Zabaleta Norte viaduct is expected to be finished during the month of February.
Once the four viaducts are completed, installation will move on to railings and anti-bird screens, communication gutters, and waterproofing the decks.
Finally, the tunnel finishes, railway installations, installation of signaling milestones and fencing, execution of ditches and elements of longitudinal drainage, as well as the landscaping restoration of slopes and surplus deposits, will be undertaken.
The new high-speed rail line will improve connections with the main Basque population nodes and will enable 220 km/h speed for passenger trains and 90 km/h speed for cargo trains.
