Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure has completed the build of the new hospital and technical unit building of 12 de Octubre Hospital, in Madrid. The project, within a €227 million budget, also included the demolition of the current hospital building unit, to be carried out in 2024.
This contract for the government of the Comunidad de Madrid was fulfilled in under three years without interfering with the regular activity of the existing hospital facility.
More than 135,000 sqm
The new building is over 135,000 sqm in surface across 10 floors, with more than 700 rooms, 40 operating rooms, 109 ICU beds and 4 resuscitation beds.
It also includes areas dedicated to rare disease diagnosis with state-of-the-art tech equipment, and a 17,000 sqm technical unit that houses the hospital’s utility installations.
Over 2,500 professionals
Over 2.500 professionals have participated in this sustainable build, which includes over 750 solar panels that produce an electricity output of nearly 500,000 kWh/year.
Therapeutic garden
12 de Octubre Hospital improves patient care and comfort with broader and well illuminated spaces.
One of the project highlights is the 5,000+ sqm of green and therapeutic garden areas open to patients and relatives; versatile layout configuration of individual or twin rooms depending on occupancy rates; some rooms have an insulation layout for radiation patients or patients under surveillance.
