Pedro Alonso, Executive director of the Sacyr Foundation, signed a collaboration agreement with Francisco Javier Hortal, Chair of ASION, the Children's Oncology Association of Madrid to support this organization’s pediatric therapeutic recreation activities. The association is made up of families of children with cancer.
ASION is an association of families with children with cancer that, for over 35 years, has been contributing to improving the quality of life of these patients and their families.
The objective of the collaboration between both organizations is to support the therapeutic leisure activities organized by ASION, especially the summer camp for children and teenagers with cancer.
This camp addresses special psychosocial support needs that cancer causes, such as coping with consequences of the disease, self-esteem, problem solving, autonomy, social integration, etc.
ASION has a team of professionals who work on the different challenges and needs that arise after diagnosis, throughout the disease process, and once treatment has been completed: psycho-oncologists, social workers, socio-cultural animators, physiotherapists, etc.
