A 50%-50% Sacyr Water and GS Inima JV has been selected to oversee the operation, maintenance and conservation of Alicante desalination plant. This facility has a total processing capacity of 122,500 m3/day considering the two production lines in it: Alicante I (57,500 m3/day) and II (65,000 m3/day)
This Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla contract award is valued at €11,6 million and lasts for two years, with the possibility to extend it an additional two-years.
The scope of the contract comprises all the necessary tasks for the correct functioning of the plant, both in terms of water quality and the use of all the facility elements (system comprising the water intakes to the water output to the Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla-owned reservoirs).
The desalination plant has a drinking water production capacity to supply a population of more than 470,000 people.
The operation of this facility will be executed under the strictest quality, environment, and sustainability standards, to ensure the correct functioning and maintenance of the plant while meeting the production targets agreed with the local authorities.
GS Inima designed and built Alicante II, which started operations in 2008, and operated it for 11 years. Sacyr Water managed the plant for the past four years and implemented innovative techniques such as the use of underwater drones to perform facility inspections.
