Sacyr, member of a consortium selected for P3 negotiations over a stretch of I-10 in Louisiana (USA)

  • A world-class consortium comprised of Sacyr, Acciona and Plenary Americas has been selected for the negotiations of a P3 to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the infrastructure for 50 years.
  • The P3 project consists of the construction and improvements of a 10-km-long stretch of interstate I-10, including a new bridge over the Calcasieu River.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) has selected the Calcasieu Bridge Partners (CBP) consortium comprised of Sacyr (30%), Acciona (30%), and Plenary Americas (40%) for the negotiations of a P3 project over a 10-km stretch of Interstate 10 (I-10).

The US$ 2.1 billion project (approximately €1.9 billion) will connect the cities of Lake Charles and Westlake in southwest Louisiana, and will include the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure for 50 years.

Construction works, carried out by a 50-50 Sacyr-Acciona joint venture, include an eight-lane bridge over the Calcasieu River, that will replace the existing bridge, built in the 1950s.

In addition, the contract includes the modification and relocation of existing roadways and interchanges, the demolition of the existing Calcasieu River Bridge once traffic is transferred to the new bridge, and the operation and maintenance of the new bridge and associated roadway.

In the coming months, the Consortium will diligently work with LaDOTD toward reaching commercial and financial close.

Growth in the US

Sacyr established in its 2021-2025 Strategic Plan the priority of increasing its P3 portfolio in English-speaking countries. Participation in Louisiana’s I-10 project represents the culmination of this objective within the current Strategic Plan framework.
