The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) has selected the Calcasieu Bridge Partners (CBP) consortium comprised of Sacyr (30%), Acciona (30%), and Plenary Americas (40%) for the negotiations of a P3 project over a 10-km stretch of Interstate 10 (I-10).
The US$ 2.1 billion project (approximately €1.9 billion) will connect the cities of Lake Charles and Westlake in southwest Louisiana, and will include the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure for 50 years.
Construction works, carried out by a 50-50 Sacyr-Acciona joint venture, include an eight-lane bridge over the Calcasieu River, that will replace the existing bridge, built in the 1950s.
In addition, the contract includes the modification and relocation of existing roadways and interchanges, the demolition of the existing Calcasieu River Bridge once traffic is transferred to the new bridge, and the operation and maintenance of the new bridge and associated roadway.
In the coming months, the Consortium will diligently work with LaDOTD toward reaching commercial and financial close.
