This Integrated Report was prepared with the collaboration of all company areas and includes the Statement of Non-Financial Information, which is mandatory.
This document reports on Sacyr's progress in achieving the objectives set out in the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan and the 2021-2025 Sacyr Sustainable Action Plan. It reflects the company's work for a more sustainable future, through the development and management of infrastructures that create positive social, economic and environmental outcomes for the benefit of all its stakeholders.
The main improvements included in the 2021 Integrated Report are:
Taxonomy
The EU taxonomy is the catalogue for identifying which activities are environmentally sustainable. The goal of this taxonomy is to provide transparent and approved information to identify new sustainable investment opportunities.
According to this tool and after analyzing the economic activities that can be classified as sustainable, the results showed that 76.7% of the activities of the Sacyr Group are eligible under these parameters.
Climate change
The 2021-2025 Strategic Plan sets the goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.
To fulfill this ambitious commitment, Sacyr launched its Climate Change Strategy in 2021, which establishes the commitment to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42%, as well as Scope 3 emissions by 25%, by 2030.
This commitment has been approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).
Carbon footprint
One of the lines of action stressed in 2021 was to improve on the calculation of Scope 3 emissions in our carbon footprint. To achieve this, among other actions, we carried out a mobility survey that was disseminated among our employees for the first time this year.
For the third consecutive year, Sacyr has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), publicly disclosing information about the company's management and performance on climate change, reaching the A- leadership level.
In addition, Sacyr has obtained the seal “Calculo, Reduzco, Compenso", from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge for the first time.
Sustainable Cities
The 2021-2025 Sacyr Sustainable Action Plan includes specific actions that promote progress towards resilient city models that incorporate innovation to reduce environmental impact.
Therefore, in 2021, the company has increased its number of certifications of sustainable construction, promoting the efficiency of its resources, innovation projects for cities and the incorporation of nature into urban areas, always in collaboration with its customers and suppliers.
