With 17 new km, we opened the Caacupé and Itacurubí bypasses, in Cordillera department, in the framework of the doubling and extension of the Ruta PY02 project (Paraguay). These works will speed up traffic by creating new ring roads around both cities.
As of today, the Rutas del Este P3 company, responsible for the development and operation of the Ruta PY02, has opened to traffic 122 km out of the 148.5 km planned in total. The operational routes go from Ypacaraí to Caacupé, Eusebio Ayala and Itacurubí, and from Itacurubí to Caaguazú, a major bet on the country’s economic development and its people, with urban and road improvements in the cities in the road layout.
New secondary roads
The Caacupé bypass, with a 10 km extension, goes from km 52 to km 62. On the other hand, the Itacurubí bypass, 7 km long, starts on km 88 at Itacurubí de la Cordillera – access point to Valenzuela district– and ends on km 95.
Both involve two divided highways separated by New Jersey concrete barriers, with two 3.5-meter-wide lanes, in addition to additional third lanes for heavy vehicles in steep road stretches.
Works include a state-of-the art lighting system in the main junctions, as well as international-standard signaling, allowing users to travel quick and safely.
Each bypass has its own set of reversals, overpasses and underpasses, back roads and wildlife paths for better interconnectivity.
The doubling and extension of Ruta PY0 completes the fully renewed export corridor to Brazil, which channels over 70% of the commercial activity in Paraguay.
