Concesión Desarrollo Vial al Mar (Devimar) (37.5% Sacyr Concesiones) has put into service a 19 km divided highway section between the Túnel de Occidente and the municipality of San Jerónimo (Antioquia, Colombia). This section comprisises Functional Unit 1 of Autopista al Mar 1.
FU 1, near Medellin, has 32 bridges of new construction, 17 rehabilitated bridges, 31 contention walls and a second roadway. In addition, improvements have been made on some points of the existing roadway to offer better comfort and safety levels to the road users.
This new section will have information panels on the condition of the roadway, cameras to monitor traffic, height sensors to protect elevated structures, and 1,188 new LED beacons, among other features.
Enhanced comfort and safety levels
“We are so proud because we’ve been able to fulfill the commitments we assumed at the early stages of the Autopista al Mar 1 project. The new roadway brings an improvement on the quality of life, better comfort and safety levels”, explained Jesús Rodríguez Robles, General Manager of Devimar.
With this new opening, Devimar progresses with the remaining construction works on Autopista al Mar 1. Among those are the 14 km of the second divided highway section between San Jerónimo and Santa Fe de Antioquia, the Río Cauca bridge and the new 4.6 km Túnel de Occidente.
