We delivered our first project in Texas!

The United States is a home market for Sacyr, where it started activities in 2018, and that produces a backlog of nearly €2,000 million

Recently, Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure reached a significant milestone for its projection in the US market, by delivering the IH-35 in Texas. The company has received the “Substantial completion” certificate within the established deadline. This was the first project that Sacyr won in Texas.

The IH-35 is in Hill County, 5 km north of Hillsboro, and 90 km south of Dallas.

“This is a new milestone in our implementation as a company in the US, with the commissioning of our first project in Texas, and the fifth in the US. This project demonstrates our capacity to execute complex projects, that require keeping the infrastructure operational during the construction stage and demand an active management with the client and communities”, said Enrique Alonso, Country manager at Sacyr USA.

The Sacyr teams have reconstructed and extended 7.2 miles (nearly 12 km) of the IH-35E, one of the main highways in Texas, and connects the cities of Austin and Dallas.

Sacyr has extended the two already existing highways, increasing the previous two-lane configuration to three, and reconstructed and reconfigured the existing interchanges.

Moreover, the project included the construction of multiple MSE walls along the road, with maximum height of 25 feet (approximately 7.6m) over the terrain.

One of the most significant points of the contract is the construction of a 13-inch (33 cm) thick layer of concrete pavement, at 220,000 cubic yards (approximately 170,000 m3) of total volume.
