Sacyr Concesiones begins operation of Ruta 78 (Chile)

  • The P3 company will invest US$ 892 million in improvements for this highway in the coming years.

Yesterday, Sacyr Concesiones started the operation of the Santiago - San Antonio (Ruta 78) highway in Chile. This infrastructure was officially awarded to Sacyr Concesiones earlier this month by the Chilean Ministry of Public Works.

The project includes an investment of US$ 892 million (€ 810 million) for a maximum variable term of 32 years. The development involves extending the highway by 132.8 km and will benefit approximately 1.7 million people per year. This road is a fundamental axis for cargo transportation between Santiago and the Port of San Antonio and for the urban areas in the vicinity of its route.

This project affects several sections of the highway, the widening of traffic circles, the construction of new ramps to the ports, the full renovation of the Manuel Rodriguez Bridge and new junctions, all with the aim of enhancing safety and reducing travel times.

Sacyr in Chile

Sacyr has invested close to $US 6.5 billion in Chile in various projects through its three lines of business, including the construction, operation and management of 2 airports and 14 P3 road projects, totaling more than 1,700 km of highways.

In hospital infrastructure, it has been awarded 7 hospitals, totaling more than 2,600 beds and approximately 600,000 m2. These include the Antofagasta and Buin-Paine hospitals (in a P3), Alto Hospicio, Biprovincial Quillota-Petorca, Villarrica, Sótero del Río and Cordillera.
