Sacyr has been selected for the development of the new Buin-Paine Hospital DBFOM (Design, Build, Finance, operate and maintain located in the province of Maipo (Chile) for a term of 15 years.
The Sacyr Concesiones consortium, in which Dominion participates, was chosen after opening of the technical and economic bids. The contract award process is now underway, and this will need to be completed over the next few months. The investment is put at $120 million (€101 million). The concession term of 15 years.
Sacyr Concesiones Chile’s general manager, Juan Facuse, stressed the importance of this project to the company and the country. “We know this hospital is eagerly awaited by the inhabitants of the province of Maipo and the Metropolitan region. We will put all of Sacyr’s experience into this infrastructure. We are currently building six hospital projects that together will contribute over 2,400 beds to the Chilean Health System,” he said.
The future site, which will be located in the county of Buin, will have a total area of 56,000 m2 and an allocation of 200 beds, to benefit an estimated population of 170,000 people.
The design consists of six wings, 34 consultation units, 17 procedure units, three integral delivery rooms, 16 Emergency Service units, 18 dialysis chairs and 7 dental care units.
Additionally there are, 12 critical patient beds, 117 medical/surgical beds, 36 gynecological/obstetric beds, 16 pediatric beds, four neonatology beds and 15 adult psychiatry beds.
Sacyr in Chile
Sacyr’s presence in Chile dates back more than 24 years, when we won the first PPP contract to build and operate the Los Vilos-La Serena highway in 1996, when the Concession System was beginning.
Since then, Sacyr has invested some $6,500 million (€5,500 million) in various projects, outstanding among which are two airports and 15 PPP roads, totaling over 2,000 km.
In hospital infrastructure, Sacyr has been awarded six hospitals, totaling over 2,400 beds and nearly 629,000 m2, with the hospitals of Antofagasta (a PPP Scheme similar to Buin Paine), Alto Hospicio, Quillota-Petorca Biprovincial, Sótero del Río, Cordillera and Villarrica. .
In terms of building, Sacyr’s experience worldwide comes to over 60 hospitals in seven different countries, in which it has invested a total of €3,200 million, and accounting for 10,000 beds.
It is also worth noting that Sacyr Concessions Water operates, since 2020, four comprehensive water cycle management companies in the Antofagasta and Metropolitan regions, serving over 150,000 people.
