Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, in consortium with Engibrasy SA Paulista, is in charge of expanding line 2 of the Sao Paulo metro in Brazil. The 7.3 km section under construction includes five ventilation and emergency exit shafts, one station, a large underground complex for rolling stock maintenance, and a double-track tunnel with an 11.7-meter.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is the Rapadura Complex, which will house the base for the maintenance of rolling stock and four auxiliary tunnels for train parking.
Our colleagues have already finished the construction of the retaining walls in this complex and have started excavation and construction of anchors, waiting for the arrival of the 144,000 kn tunnel boring machine, which will allow us to continue with the drilling work.
The tunnel boring machine, which was manufactured in China, has already started its packaging for its next transport to the capital of Sao Paulo.
The construction of the ring factory building has also been completed, and the installation of the carousel will start in the coming days.
Over 1,100 professionals are involved in the execution of this important project, which will benefit more than 300,000 daily users of the Sao Paulo metro.
