Sacyr has recently celebrated its yearly open innovation event, Sacyr Innovation Summit, that gathered the best proponents for the four business challenges issued by the company on the fifth edition of Sacyr iChallenges.
12 innovation agents from 10 different countries (Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, India, Israel, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Australia and Türkiye) attended the hybrid event. These agents answered Sacyr’s open call last May to find solutions to four business challenges.
Sacyr iChallenges is one of the core foundations of Sacyr’s innovation and transformation strategy, based on teamwork and co-creation with the innovation ecosystem on a global scale.
In his opening speech for the event, Manuel Manrique, Chairman of Sacyr, highlighted that for the company “innovation is synonym with sharing and team-work”. “The best in-house talent with the best external talent. Thus, we believe that collaborating with the innovation ecosystem is our best bet”, he said.
Excellent turnout
On this edition of Sacyr iChallenges, the company received 276 proposals from 34 different countries.
After carefully assessing all the ideas, the company selected the 12 agents whose solutions best tackled the challenges issued on this program.
These are the agents that submitted the best proposals and were featured on Sacyr Innovation Summit 2022:
Renewables challenge. How to increase the capacity for generating, storing, and harnessing renewable energy in our facilities, while reducing the energy bill.
The solutions submitted by the companies H2Vector (Spain), The Predictive Company (Spain) and Ibis Power (Netherlands) tackled this challenge best.
New materials challenge. How to promote the recovery of waste from newly developed industries and existing streams of materials that are treated inefficiently.
Lohum (India), Miljøskærm (Denmark), APChemi (India) were the companies with the best proposals for this second challenge.
GHG in construction challenge. New solutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions during the execution phase of our construction works.
KenoteQ (United Kingdom), Fortera (United States) and EH Group (Switzerland) submitted the ideas that best answer to this challenge.
Mobility challenge. How to improve our current services and explore new lines of development for mobility management and emissions optimization in urban areas.
The project proposals submitted by ITC (Israel), Spot Parking (Australia) and Parabol (Türkiye) were selected as the ones that best answered to this challenge.
