Sacyr, by means of its business units, Sacyr Industrial and Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, in a joint venture with Ajani, is developing a signiticant construction project together with AngloAmerican, one of the most important mining companies in the world, over Quellaveco mine, in southern Peru. These works are being executed at 3,400-3,700 meters above sea level.
We are in charge of two bundles at the Quellaveco project. The first one involves the consturction of a stone crusher, reservoirs and storage and diesel dumping areas for light vehicles and mining trucks, electrical and control rooms; and the transport of coarse ore via conveyor belts, as well as water mining services.
The second bundle involves the construction of a truck workshop and the adminsitration buildings for the mine.
These significant projects allow us to showcase our ample international expertise to the Peruvian market by bringing mining business solutions to the table and highlighting the activity of the Sacyr Group on multiple mining and energy industry contracts.
Quellaveco is one of the largest untapped natural copper deposits in the world, with an estimated total reserve of 1.3 billion tons of minerals, that cointain approximately 7.5 million tons of copper. Quellaveco project will use surface mining and froth flotation techniques to produce copper concetrate, molybdenum, and silver. With a starting production rate of 127,000 tons per day, it is expected that Quellaveco will produce an average of 300,000 tons per year over its first ten years of activity.
