Sacyr recognized on CDP's 'A List' for the third consecutive year
- Sacyr is among a select group of companies, out of 24,800 analyzed by CDP, acknowledged for its leadership in climate action and water security.
17/02/2025
For the third consecutive year, Sacyr has been included in CDP’s prestigious ‘A List’, which highlights the world's top companies for corporate transparency and leadership in climate action.
This year, Sacyr has also been recognized in the water security leadership category, earning an "A-" rating.
CDP assesses and scores over 24,800 companies, maintaining the world’s largest environmental database, aligned with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). CDP scores serve as a key reference for investors in driving sustainable, resilient, and low-carbon economic decision-making.
Companies on CDP’s ‘A List’ have outperformed their peers by an average of 6% in stock market valuation over the past decade, demonstrating that transparency and ambition are rewarded by the market. Additionally, investors rely on CDP scores to guide their portfolio management and ensure compliance with industry regulations and commitments.
Fernando Lozano, Sacyr Chief Operating Officer said: "Being part of CDP's leading companies for the third consecutive year based on our climate performance and for the second year in water security is the result of our team's commitment to meet our CO2 emission reduction targets, reduce water consumption and implement good practices across the value chain".
Climate action strategy
Sacyr is committed to decarbonization and adaptation as key pillars of its Climate Change Strategy. The company has set ambitious targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030, with the ultimate goal of achieving carbon neutrality before 2050. These targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and align with efforts to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
Furthermore, Sacyr is dedicated to continuously improving water resource management. The company has committed to reducing its water consumption by at least 5% across all its operations by 2027, including in both high- and low-water-stress areas.
To support these efforts, Sacyr assesses its water footprint to identify and evaluate potential environmental impacts on freshwater and marine ecosystems. As part of its sustainability commitment, Sacyr became the first Ibex 35 company to verify its Water Footprint in 2023.
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a global non-profit organization that operates the world’s leading independent environmental disclosure system. It enables companies, capital markets, cities, states, and regions to measure and manage their environmental impact.
